Dubai’s highly anticipated MGM Resort Dubai has officially moved one step closer to reality, with MGM Resorts International confirming that the landmark development is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2028.
The multi-billion-dollar project will introduce three of Las Vegas’ most famous hotel brands—Bellagio, Aria, and MGM Grand—to Dubai, creating a new luxury destination on The Island by Wasl.
Dubai MGM Resort Opening Date Confirmed
During an earnings call earlier this year, Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts International, confirmed that construction remains on schedule and that the Dubai project is expected to welcome its first guests in the third quarter of 2028.
The announcement marks another milestone for one of Dubai’s most ambitious hospitality developments, which has been years in the making.
What Is the Dubai MGM Resort?
Located on The Island by Wasl near Burj Al Arab in Umm Suqeim, the development is part of a massive US$2.5 billion waterfront project designed to redefine luxury tourism in Dubai.
Once completed, the resort will feature around 1,400 hotel rooms spread across three internationally recognised hospitality brands:
Together, the hotels are expected to offer luxury accommodation, world-class dining, entertainment venues, retail experiences, and waterfront attractions.
Three Famous Las Vegas Hotels Are Coming to Dubai

Bellagio
Bellagio is famous for its elegant design, luxury accommodation, fine dining, and the iconic fountain shows that have become one of Las Vegas’ biggest attractions.
Aria
Known for its modern architecture and upscale dining experiences, Aria has earned a reputation as one of Las Vegas’ premier luxury hotels.
MGM Grand
MGM Grand is recognised worldwide for its large-scale entertainment, concerts, restaurants, and vibrant hospitality offerings.
Their arrival is expected to add a new dimension to Dubai’s already impressive luxury hotel market.
Where Will the Dubai MGM Resort Be Located?
The resort is being built on The Island by Wasl, a man-made island situated just beyond Burj Al Arab along Dubai’s coastline.
The waterfront location is expected to offer easy access to many of Dubai’s leading attractions while creating an exclusive island-style destination for residents and international visitors.
Will the Dubai MGM Resort Have a Casino?
At present, no casino has been confirmed for the Dubai resort.
Although MGM executives have previously expressed interest in adding gaming if regulations allow in the future, there has been no official approval for casino operations in Dubai.
Currently, the only integrated resort in the UAE confirmed to receive a commercial gaming licence is Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah.
A Major Addition to Dubai’s Hospitality Industry
First announced in 2017, the project experienced several years of inactivity before construction officially resumed in 2023.
Today, work continues on schedule, and the Dubai MGM Resort is expected to become one of the city’s most significant hospitality openings when it launches in 2028.
