Zimbabwean Fast Bowler Banned from PSL for Two Years

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially banned Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani from the next two editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Blessing Muzarabani was punished for breaching his PSL 11 contract, pulling out of a prior agreement with Islamabad United to join an IPL franchise instead.

Muzarabani had originally agreed to play for Islamabad United in PSL 11, but later withdrew and moved to Kolkata Knight Riders, where he came in as a replacement for Bangladesh seamer Mustafizur Rahman.

The PCB said the decision was made after a disciplinary review into what it described as a breach of a binding contractual commitment.

According to the board, professional cricket depends on trust and the certainty of agreements between players, franchises, and organizers. It said that once essential terms such as payment and contract structure are accepted in writing, they become binding and cannot be ignored without a valid reason.

The board maintained that entering into another deal while an earlier agreement is still in place goes against the standards expected in franchise cricket and damages the league’s recruitment process.

In its statement, the PCB said such actions weaken confidence among franchises, regulators, and other stakeholders, especially if they are left unchecked.

Officials added that the two-year suspension is meant to protect the professional environment of the PSL and ensure that contractual commitments are taken seriously by players and their representatives.

The board also said that while it understands the pressures created by packed international and franchise calendars, it will not compromise on the principles of fairness, transparency, and professional conduct.
