Characterised by a high, structured collar that rises up around the neck, the silhouette has quietly become a fixture of all good winter wardrobes, appearing in wool, leather, cotton, and canvas iterations. If you’ve tried one for yourself, you’ll know the style isn’t just chic — it’s distinctly practical, too. Speaking from experience, shivering through chilly winter temperatures is made significantly more bearable by a jacket that hugs your neck, not just your body.
Beyond its obvious functionality, the funnel neck has roots on the runway — like so many good things do. For autumn winter 2025, designers everyone from Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney, to Chloé and Khaite offered their own interpretation of the high collar. If we’re taking styling cues from the runway, the funnel neck jacket is surprisingly versatile, too.
