The best-selling walking pad with a 16 per cent incline is on sale for a limited time, but you need to be quick

Walking pads, incline treadmills and at home fittness equpment has really stepped up in the last six or so years.

Gym memberships are expensive, apartment space is shrinking, and many shoppers are trying to squeeze movement into workdays already packed with meetings, emails and doomscrolling.

That is probably why the LONTEK 16% Incline Walking Pad has exploded during Amazon’s Mid-Year Sale, with more than 1,000 bought in the past month alone.

The treadmill is currently down to $169.89, reduced from $260, saving shoppers 35 per cent until Sunday 7 June at 11:59pm.

Unlike the bulky treadmills many of us associate with dusty spare rooms and abandoned New Year’s resolutions, this one is slim enough to slide under a sofa or bed.

At just 6.35cm thick when folded, it is clearly designed for people who want to exercise without sacrificing half their apartment to a giant piece of gym equipment.

The real selling point, though, is the 16 per cent manual incline.

Walking pads have become wildly popular over the last almost decade, especially among people working from home, but many models focus on casual walking rather than an actual sweat session.

This one leans into the hot girl walk meets cardio challenge at home.

The incline feature is designed to simulate climbing and hiking, increasing calorie burn while adding more intensity to workouts.

For people who cannot face another crowded gym or who want something more engaging than a flat treadmill stroll, it offers a surprisingly effective alternative.

It also has a 2.5HP motor with speeds ranging from 1 to 10km/h, meaning it can handle everything from gentle desk walking while replying to Slack messages through to a proper jog.

Impressively, the motor keeps noise below 45dB, which matters if you live in an apartment building or share your space with housemates who do not want to hear sprint intervals during dinner.

Another reason this model is getting attention is comfort. The treadmill includes a 91.5cm x 37cm extra-wide running belt with seven layers of non-slip material and eight silicone shock absorbers designed to reduce impact on knees and ankles. So your downstairs neighbours may survive, and so might your joints.

The LED display tracks speed, time, calories and distance, while the remote control lets users adjust settings without awkwardly crouching mid-workout.

It is the kind of setup that fits neatly into modern life, whether that means walking while bingeing reality TV or sneaking in steps between spreadsheets.

Why shoppers love it

Reviews have been unusually enthusiastic too, which is always a good sign during major online sales.

One shopper wrote: “I really love this machine! It fits under my coffee table when not in use; no big, bulky handles, just set your kms and time, jump on and set the speed with the remote. Bloody good workout by the way.”

Another added: “Nice and sturdy walking pad. Arrived two days early, easy to set up. Walked 4 km already, feels steady under feet, and nice and quiet.”

A third reviewer said: “Very happy with this walking pad. It’s quiet, sturdy, and the incline makes workouts more effective.”

Walking pads continue to dominate Instagram fitness trends and work-from-home routines.

At under $170 during Amazon’s Mid-Year Sale, it is also significantly cheaper than most gym memberships over the course of a year.

Which means your living room may officially be the new cardio studio.
