Steven Coan, 31, was pronounced dead at a New Bedford hospital after suffering multiple gunshot wounds inside his car, the DA said.
A New Bedford man’s death is being investigated as a homicide after he was found with several gunshot wounds in his car last week, the local DA announced.
At around 11:30 p.m. on May 6, a ShotSpotter — a device which uses sensors to scan for sounds that resemble — detected gunshots in the area of Acushnet Avenue and Russell Street, the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a press release.
Police and EMS were sent to the location and found Steven Coan, 31, inside his car on Russell Street suffering from several gunshot wounds , the DA said.
Coan was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead, Quinn’s office said.
The shooting is being investigated as a homicide by State Police and New Bedford police, the DA said.
