Sharjah Women’s Sports has concluded the sixth edition of its Amateur Shooting Challenge, with 77 participants taking part across the junior and women’s categories.
The event was organised by the Community Sports Department and held from May 9 to 10 at the foundation’s headquarters in Al Qlayaa.
The first day focused on training. Participants were introduced to the basics of shooting, along with safety rules and procedures.
The second day moved into competition, giving both age groups the chance to test what they had learned in a controlled setting.
In the junior category, Shaikha Nawaf Ismail finished first. Samar Mohammed Al Zubaidi took second place, with Yasmine Kashwani third.
In the women’s category, Altaf Saleh won first place. Hamda Mohammed Al Harmoodi came second, while Khawla Mohammed Al Ali finished third.
Noura Al Hamr, Head of the Community Sports Department, said the challenge was designed to offer a sporting experience that combined learning and competition.
Maryam Kashwani said the turnout showed growing awareness of community sport and its role in encouraging women and girls to take part in physical activity.
For Sharjah Women’s Sports, the event also continues to create more regular sporting opportunities for females in the emirate, from introductory sessions to competitive formats.
