Karnataka Congress seeks PM, Amit Shah, CM Yogi’s resignation over Ram Temple theft

The Karnataka Congress has passed a resolution demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over alleged irregularities involving the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

The resolution, adopted at the Karnataka Congress general body meeting, also called for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged scam and sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter.

According to the resolution, the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, constituted the 11-member Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, comprising members from the RSS and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, to oversee the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The Karnataka Congress claimed that the Trust collected tens of thousands of crores of rupees in donations from the public and governments for the temple’s construction.

It alleged that proper accounts had not been maintained for these donations and further claimed that thousands of crores of rupees, along with gold, silver, diamonds and other valuables received by the Trust, had been systematically misappropriated by certain trustees and employees.

The resolution demanded the formation of an SIT to identify and punish those involved in the scam. It also said that, instead of taking action against the Trust’s office-bearers, authorities had arrested employees to protect those responsible.

The Karnataka Congress further claimed that the scam had dishonoured Lord Shri Ram, revered by millions of people, and had harmed the nation’s identity, traditions, culture and values. Citing nationwide concern and hurt public sentiments, the party demanded that the CBI investigate the matter.

The resolution also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to resign from their respective posts, saying that they should accept moral responsibility for the matter.
