Many people believe the 2026 NFL Draft class lacks game-changing talent in the first round, but the latest report suggests the league may see things differently. The Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns have all had pre-draft discussions with teams about potential trade-ups, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The senior NFL reporter noted that it could just be “simple due diligence,” but these three organizations are clearly open to the idea of making an additional splash on Thursday night. Time will tell if any of them take the plunge.
Philly has a knack for drawing bad optics early in the winter and flipping the script with an eventful spring. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman usually allays fans’ concerns at the NFL Draft, so who is to say he cannot do the same this year? Since the consensus opinion is that AJ Brown will be traded to the New England Patriots in June, the team could be motivated to scoop up a new wide receiver before the first round concludes. Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion could both be options.
The Titans are one of the harder franchises to gauge. New head coach Robert Saleh may want to prioritize the defense, but surrounding young quarterback Cam Ward with offensive talent is a logical approach to take. Perhaps they can accomplish both objectives on Thursday.
Much like Tennessee, Cleveland requires help on both sides of the ball and could therefore be inclined to stockpile impactful prospects. Though, if the Browns trade back into the first, many fans will assume they are taking Alabama QB Ty Simpson. Such a scenario would produce polarizing reactions for the next several weeks, if not months.
Regardless of what unfolds at the draft, how the public perceives this batch of incoming rookies could change drastically in the near future.
