Jordyn Tyson was feeling a lot of emotions after witnessing the Cleveland Browns call his name in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The Browns selected him with the ninth pick of the draft, right after trading the sixth pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for the ninth selection and two other picks. This opened the pathway for them to get Tyson, who begins a new chapter in his football career as emotions overwhelmed him after hearing the news.

Putting on his Browns cap and doing an interview, Tyson reflected on the accomplishment he pulled off. He is grateful for the opportunity as he looks forward to playing in the NFL.

“The lord said it’s gonna be hard and you have to persevere. Life is not easy, keep going boy. … I promise you so strong,” Tyson said.

What’s next for Browns after Jordyn Tyson selection

The Browns are clearly bolstering their depth at the wide receiver room, adding more potential weapons ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

Tyson played three seasons throughout his collegiate career, representing one with the Colorado Buffaloes and his last two with the Arizona State Sun Devils. He became a notable standout with the latter, pulling off a campaign in which he recorded 75 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Tyson’s final collegiate campaign was solid even though he didn’t achieve another 1,000-yard season. He ended up catching 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns, remaining a potent receiver in the Sun Devils offense.

The Browns will hope for that success to translate to the professional level. They struggled throughout the course of the 2025 season before ending it with a win streak.

Cleveland finished with a 5-12 record, being at the bottom of the AFC North Division standings. They will hope to return to the playoffs after making their last appearance in 2023.
