Al Hamriyah rowers strike gold in Tunis

Al Hamriyah’s modern rowing team returned from Tunisia with gold after a strong showing at the Tunisian Classic Rowing Championship.

The Sharjah club won the under-19 double sculls title through Hamad Abdullah Al Hosani and Salem Al Mansouri. The event took place on Lake Tunis from May 5 to 10, with nine clubs competing.

The result adds another overseas success for Al Hamriyah, and gives the club’s young rowers a useful marker as they continue to build experience outside the UAE.

Salem Al Khayyal, board member of Al Hamriyah Club and head of the Individual Games and Talent Development Committee, congratulated Al Hosani, Al Mansouri and coach Captain Sayed Ali Wadhah.

He said the medal shows the progress made by the rowing programme and the standard the team has reached.

The two rowers and their coach said they were proud of the result and remain focused on representing Al Hamriyah in future regional and international competitions.
