Meera has lately become the talk of the town after she appeared on Irshad Bhatti and Rehan Tariq’s podcasts, where a series of controversial and demeaning questions asked to Meera are going viral on social media. During the interview, Meera didn’t respond to any controversy and kept promoting her upcoming film Psycho. She also received huge support from fans, media persons, and the artist community.
Recently, his colleague Shaan Shahid also broke his silence on the Meera and Irshad Bhatti controversy on Nadia Khan’s morning show Rise and Shine.
Talking about it, Shaan Shahid said, “I don’t understand one thing. Investigative journalism and entertainment journalism are different things. Why does political journalism in Pakistan cross its boundaries and enter the realm of entertainment? Their questions often feel like interrogation, as if the celebrities are sitting in court or NAB rather than in an interview. I mean to say is that in journalism, professionals should study entertainment journalism, which should be about an artist’s craft, not like investigative journalism; there shouldn’t be an ‘interrogation.’ I feel very sad when they want artists to be Sadiq and Ameen. Humans make mistakes; why do you need someone perfect in your podcast? I see such good people doing such bad things because we always look up to them as opinion makers. We watch them, they host great shows; we follow them, respect them, and listen to their analyses, but they just fall from grace.” Watch here:
He further added that artists should now go prepared to the hosts’ podcasts with proper homework about their personal lives.
