US Declares 2nd War on Iran to Cut off Hezbollah Funding

The US Treasury Department has launched a new sanctions campaign against Iran dubbed “Operation Economic Fury” to intensify pressure on Mujtaba Khamenei’s government.

In a short briefing related to this announcement, the US War Secretary Pete Hegseth threatened Iran should “choose wisely” and brace for more strikes if Tehran makes a “poor” decision. He also said restrictions linked to Iranian maritime activity near or on Hormuz would remain in force “for as long as necessary.”

The US Treasury said the new operation targets two major financial networks tied to Iran. The first is the Shamkhani network, described as a multi-billion-dollar oil and shipping system linked to senior Iranian figures and Russia.

The second targets a Hezbollah-linked network involving an Iranian national and three companies facilitating oil-for-gold transactions between Iran and Venezuela to fund Hezbollah.

The Treasury warned global financial institutions that secondary sanctions will be imposed on any entity supporting Iran’s sanctioned activities.
