“It is with great sadness but also a celebration of a long full life that myself and my brother Paul announce our father Terence died peacefully last night in Melbourne,” he wrote.

“Obviously this is an extremely emotional time and we ask you respect our privacy.

“We want to pay tribute to all the wonderful staff at Cabrini Hospital Melbourne who looked after him in his final days.

“Our dad was a huge character, larger than life.

“He was our best friend… our world!

“We will desperately miss him but we take comfort knowing we were all here by his side in his final days.

“Knowing that he lived life to the max.

“Knowing that in life it’s either a daring adventure or nothing at all!

“How lucky we are to have a Dad like you.”

The announcement was signed off by both Jason and Paul on his Instagram stories, followed by an image of the three of them, and one of just Jason and Terence.

Three weeks ago, Jason had shared an old photograph of him as a child sitting on his father’s lap to celebrate father’s day.

In the caption, he wrote, “Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad. Hero, my dad!”

In addition to his role on Ramsay Street, Terence Donovan appeared in Home and Away, Division 4, Cop Shop, and Blue Heelers.

He had film roles in Death of a Soldier and The Man from Snowy River.
