Taskmaster Australia returns tonight, bringing a new season of chaotic challenges and unpredictable comedy as a fresh lineup of performers steps into the spotlight.

The fifth season of the hit series sees Tom Gleeson reclaim his role as the Taskmaster, presiding over the action with authority. Alongside him is assistant Tom Cashman, who continues his role supporting – and at times complicating – the tasks handed down to contestants.

A new group of comedians joins the competition this season, with Rove McManus, Celia Pacquola, Anisa Nandaula, Brett Blake and Joel Creasey all taking part. Each will face a series of challenges designed to test their creativity, logic and ability to perform under pressure.

The format remains unchanged, with contestants tackling tasks that may appear straightforward at first but often become increasingly complex. The series ultimately crowns one winner, who claims the show’s signature trophy.

According to the program’s premise, the competition centres on completing a range of unusual assignments for entertainment value, with participants judged on their performance across the season.

The return of the show marks another round of episodes built around comedic problem-solving and studio-based judging, continuing the established format of the franchise.

Taskmaster Australia Season 5 airs Thursday, 7 May at 7.30pm on 10.
