Sindh Police Warn Citizens Against Sharing SIMs and Fingerprints

Pakistan authorities have urged citizens to protect their personal information amid rising concerns over cybercrime and SIM misuse.

In a public advisory, Sindh police warned people not to share their SIM cards, fingerprints, CNIC details or other sensitive information with unnecessary individuals.

The police said criminals often misuse illegally obtained SIMs in financial fraud and other serious crimes, which can also create legal complications for innocent users.

“Always stay cautious and stay safe,” the advisory stated.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) warned mobile users that SIM cards registered against expired, cancelled or deceased Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) are being blocked nationwide.

The PTA advised citizens to renew their CNICs through NADRA and ensure their identity records remain updated to avoid disruption in mobile services. The authority said the measure aims to strengthen digital security and prevent identity misuse across Pakistan.
