Spring Hill: Man dies after falling from sixth storey while trying to flee Queensland police

A young man has died after falling from the sixth storey of a building while trying to flee Queensland police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall in Spring Hill on Saturday is underway.

“Initial investigations indicate that around 5.50pm, officers attended a Wickham Terrace address following reports of a wanted person being spotted,” a police statement reads.

“Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old Annerley man on the sixth floor of the building, who attempted to flee via a nearby balcony to a lower level, but fell and sustained serious injuries.

“The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The State Coroner has been advised and the Ethical Standards Command is investigating.”

The investigation is subject to independent oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
