This year’s Costume Institute spring exhibition is titled “Costume Art” and centers on the “centrality of the dressed body” in The Met’s collection.

This means that visitors can expect to see nearly 400 objects, including approximately 200 garments and accessories and 200 paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts, according to the museum.

Curated by Andrew Bolton, the curator in charge at the Costume Institute, the exhibition is organized into recurring “body” types throughout The Met, such as the “Naked Body,” “Classical Body,” “Pregnant Body,” “Aging Body,” “Anatomical Body,” and “Mortal Body.”
