Morgan Gibbs-White has revealed the extent of his facial wounds following a brutal collision with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez during Nottingham Forest’s impressive 3-1 triumph at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder posted an image displaying extensive stitching stretching from his forehead down to his nose after the alarming incident.
Having entered the match as a second-half substitute, Gibbs-White was forced off in the 66th minute when Chris Wood came on to replace him.
The head-to-head clash marked the second concerning collision of the afternoon, with Jesse Derry having already been carried from the pitch on a stretcher during the opening period.
Despite the severity of his injuries, the Forest playmaker appeared in good spirits when sharing the photograph on social media.
Gibbs-White gave a thumbs up gesture in the image, accompanying it with a message expressing gratitude for the support he had received.
“Thanks for the messages, what a win congrats T @awoniyi18,” he wrote, directing praise towards striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who netted twice in the victory.

The positive tone of his post suggested the 26-year-old was already looking beyond the painful incident and focusing on celebrating his team’s significant result in west London.
Sanchez, meanwhile, also took to social media to show off his own scar.
“Seen that you came out worst (sic) than me, hope you are ok big man @morgangibbswhite,” he wrote.

Forest manager Vitor Pereira expressed optimism that his influential midfielder could still feature in Thursday’s Europa League semi-final encounter with Aston Villa.
The Portuguese coach indicated that Gibbs-White had not suffered a concussion, which would have ruled him out under UEFA’s mandatory six-day rest protocol.
“No, no. I think not. I had a conversation with him, he is speaking normally, he remembers everything,” Pereira explained.
“The only thing is to look for the face and the pain. Gibbs White has a deep cut, but he is a fighter, he has a strong mentality.”
Pereira added that he hoped the club’s medical team could work their magic to ensure the midfielder was fit for the crucial European fixture.
Forest had made eight changes to their starting lineup ahead of the crucial European semi-final, yet still managed to dominate proceedings at Stamford Bridge.

Awoniyi gave the visitors a dream start, heading home inside the opening two minutes to set the tone for the afternoon.
Igor Jesus doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after Malo Gusto was penalised for pulling a shirt, while Cole Palmer squandered Chelsea’s chance to respond when he failed to convert his own spot kick.
Awoniyi completed his brace after the interval before Joao Pedro provided late consolation for the hosts with a spectacular overhead effort.
Sanchez was also withdrawn following the collision, with Filip Jorgensen taking over between the posts.
