Melbourne City have secured the long-term future of one of Australia’s brightest young attacking talents, with Medin Memeti signing a contract extension through to the end of the 2029/30 season.
The 19-year-old has continued to progress since joining City’s Academy in 2022, earning regular first-team opportunities after making his professional debut in the 2023 Australia Cup.
Memeti, who can play out wide or as a striker, was named City’s Rising Star during the club’s 2024/25 Championship-winning campaign before scoring six goals across all competitions last season.

The young forward has already scored 12 senior goals and continued to make an impact on the international stage, having represented Australia at youth level, whilst also becoming the youngest men’s player in Melbourne City history to reach 50 appearances.
“I’m really happy to re-sign with Melbourne City and keep building on everything I’ve worked towards over the past few years,” Memeti said.
“This Club has given me the chance to grow, make my professional debut, play in big games and learn every day in a first-team environment.
“I’ve got so much more to give, and I’m excited to keep pushing myself, earning opportunities and doing everything I can to help the team be successful.”
Memeti was part of the Young Socceroos squad that lifted the AFC U20 Asian Cup in 2025 before finishing as the top scorer during Australia’s successful ASEAN U19 Championship campaign earlier this year.
Melbourne City Director of Football Michael Petrillo said Memeti’s development in recent years had been extremely impressive.

“Medin’s progress is a great example of what a talented young player can achieve in our environment with the right mindset and work ethic,” Petrillo said.
“To have already reached 50 senior appearances at his age is a significant milestone, and he has continued to show he can be a dangerous attacking threat at first-team level.
“Medin has all the attributes to continue taking his game to new levels, and if he remains committed to his growth, we believe he has the potential to build a long and successful career.
“We’re delighted to secure his future and look forward to seeing him continue to take the next steps in his career at Melbourne City.”
Melbourne City kick off their 2026/27 A-League Men campaign with an away trip to face Go Media Stadium where they’ll face Auckland FC on Saturday, October 17.
