Some marketers learn to understand audiences through data. Others develop their instincts through years of building campaigns. Mashal Hussain’s creative perspective has been shaped by several disciplines, including journalism, marketing and art.
Before developing campaigns across automotive, beauty, fragrance, renewable energy and lifestyle, Hussain was trained to find the story. At the same time, her passion for painting gave her another way to explore ideas, emotion and visual expression.
That combination continues to influence how she approaches marketing today. Based in Dubai, she has built a career around the belief that strong marketing sits at the intersection of storytelling, strategy and art, creating ideas that people can feel, remember and engage with.
With more than four years of marketing experience across the UAE and international markets, Hussain now works across brand strategy, integrated campaigns, partnerships, content and commercial growth.
Her journey is not simply about bringing storytelling into marketing. It is about combining different creative disciplines to turn ideas into experiences that create meaningful connections and measurable business impact.
From Storytelling to the Fast Pace of Brand Building
Hussain’s early experience as a freelance journalist and photojournalist gave her exposure to major media platforms including Geo News, BBC Urdu, The News International and The Independent.
That experience taught her to observe closely, understand context and communicate stories with clarity.
Marketing eventually offered a different canvas.
Instead of reporting on stories that already existed, Hussain began helping brands create narratives of their own.
Her work expanded across industries and formats, from digital campaigns and product launches to exhibitions, PR initiatives, influencer activations and experiential events.
The transition required her to combine creative thinking with commercial discipline.
A campaign could no longer simply be interesting. It needed to support a business objective, connect with an audience and contribute to a larger brand strategy.
When Creativity Became Measurable
One of Hussain’s defining professional achievements came through a major UAE-based automotive launch, where she led strategy, planning and creative direction for an exclusive UAE dealership and distributor launching a new line of vehicles across multiple categories, including 4×4, electric and hybrid models.
The campaign brought together an experiential launch, PR narrative and influencer activation, creating a coordinated brand experience around the introduction of the vehicles.
The campaign generated approximately AED 1 million in directly attributed revenue, demonstrating the commercial potential of connecting creative execution with a clearly defined business objective.
For Hussain, the achievement reflects more than the result itself.
It required taking an idea from concept through execution while coordinating the many moving parts behind a major launch.
Clients, agencies, vendors, influencers, media partners and internal teams all have different priorities. Bringing those elements together requires organization and strategic thinking alongside creativity.
That balance has become central to her approach to marketing.
Taking UAE Creativity Into International Markets
Her work has also extended beyond the UAE.
For Lattafa Perfumes, Hussain project-led the brand’s UK launch pop-up experience, overseeing the activation from concept development and strategic planning through vendor and stakeholder management.
She also led on-ground execution for Rasasi’s international exhibition presence in Istanbul, coordinating content capture, influencer engagement and brand storytelling in real time.
These experiences placed her in environments where cultural awareness, speed and adaptability were essential.
They also strengthened her understanding of how brands need to communicate differently across markets while maintaining a consistent identity.

Art as Another Form of Storytelling
There is another important dimension to Hussain’s creative perspective: she is a self-taught artist and painter.
She has exhibited her artwork across different emirates in the UAE, developing a personal creative practice alongside her professional work in marketing.
For Hussain, art has always been another form of storytelling.
Painting allows her to explore ideas visually, communicate emotion without relying entirely on words and approach familiar concepts from different perspectives. That mindset naturally carries into the way she develops marketing campaigns.
It influences how she approaches campaign concepts, visual directions, activations and experiences, particularly when the goal is to create something that goes beyond simply communicating a message.
Her belief is that strong marketing needs an artistic and imaginative mindset. Seeing an idea differently is often the first step toward turning it into something an audience can feel, remember and engage with.
The Creator Behind the Strategist
Hussain is not only developing strategies for brands. She has also become a brand face herself.
Through her lifestyle content, she has built an organic community of more than 17,000 followers across the UAE, KSA, Pakistan and the UK, generating millions of views and significant monthly reach.
She has appeared on camera and created UGC for regional brands including Elite Group, AVIS Rent a Car UAE, GWM, Omoda Jaecoo, Maxus and others.
That experience gives her firsthand understanding of what it means to be the person delivering a brand message directly to an audience.
It allows her to understand content from several perspectives: the strategist developing the idea, the creator bringing it to life and the consumer experiencing it.
Building Brands That Feel Culturally Relevant
Today, Hussain is associated with creative agencies and works across project-based campaigns in automotive, fragrance and other sectors, while continuing to develop her wider expertise in brand communications and integrated marketing.
Her professional identity increasingly reflects a hybrid creative approach.
She understands marketing operations, but she also understands storytelling and visual expression. She can coordinate agencies and vendors, but she can also step in front of the camera. She can develop a campaign concept and understand how that idea needs to translate into content and experiences that audiences genuinely want to engage with.
Her background in art adds another layer to that process.
For Hussain, marketing is not simply about presenting information to consumers. It is about finding an idea, shaping its visual and emotional language and creating an experience that can stay with people.
That combination is increasingly valuable in a market where brands compete not only for customers, but for attention.
The Next Chapter of a Story Still Being Written
Hussain’s career demonstrates how seemingly different creative experiences can eventually become part of one professional advantage.
Journalism taught her how to find and communicate a story. Marketing taught her how to turn ideas into strategy and commercial outcomes. Art taught her to see creatively, explore visual language and communicate through emotion. Content creation taught her how audiences experience those ideas in real time.
Together, these experiences have shaped a professional who understands that modern brand building requires storytelling, strategic thinking and imagination.
She believes the strongest marketing happens where storytelling, strategy and art meet: where an idea is not only communicated, but transformed into something people can experience and remember.
With international opportunities continuing to form part of her ambitions, Hussain’s next chapter could take that combination even further.
Her journey suggests that creative marketing does not have to come from one discipline.
Sometimes, the strongest ideas emerge when different forms of creativity come together and turn a message into something people can see, feel and remember.
