Madhya Pradesh road accident: 3 brothers killed after speeding crashes into truck on highway

A social media stunt on a highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Mauganj district turned deadly on April 14, leaving three young brothers dead and two others seriously injured, official said.

The accident took place on the Panni Patharia stretch of the National Highway under Mauganj police station limits. Police said five people travelling on two motorcycles were involved.

According to officials, three brothers were riding a high-speed Pulsar motorcycle when it rammed into a stationary brick-laden trailer parked along the roadside. During the attempt to shoot a reel, one of the pillion riders was seen waving a country-made pistol.

A video of the incident shows the trio attempting to overtake a truck when the stationary trolley suddenly appears ahead. Unable to control the speeding motorcycle, they crashed into its rear with a strong impact.

All three riders were thrown onto the road and died on the spot.

In a chain reaction, a second motorcycle carrying two men who were filming the stunt from behind also hit the same stationary trailer. Both riders were seriously injured.

Those killed in the crash have been identified as 17-year-old Upalaksh Kol, 22-year-old Amrish Kol, and 17-year-old Hemraj Kol, all members of a family in Bela village.

The injured, Prashant Dwivedi and his brother Pradeep Dwivedi from Chitpurwa village, were first taken to a community health centre and later referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa for advanced treatment.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sachi Pathak said the accident occurred due to dangerous riding while attempting to create social media content. Police have launched further investigation into the incident.
