Adelaide football fans are being called back to The Drive as the city’s official FIFA World Cup live site returns for the CommBank Socceroos’ biggest match of the tournament so far.
After securing second place in Group D with their draw against Paraguay, the Socceroos have booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout rounds, and Adelaide will once again throw its support behind the green and gold with a massive live screening on Saturday, July 4th.
The Adelaide Live Site will open from 3am, ahead of the 3:30am Round of 32 kick-off, giving supporters the chance to experience the atmosphere together on the venue’s enormous 12-metre by 7-metre screen.
Those who made it to the opening three matches will know exactly what to expect. Tens of thousands of fans turned The Drive into a sea of green and gold, with the atmosphere proving that Adelaide is more than willing to sacrifice a few hours of sleep for the beautiful game.
To help keep the energy high before sunrise, an MC and DJ will entertain the crowd throughout the morning, while food and drinks will be available for purchase, including much-needed coffee and bacon and egg rolls.
If the Socceroos continue their World Cup run, organisers say additional live site screenings will be announced as required.
South Australia’s Minister for Tourism, Emily Bourke, said, “The atmosphere at the Adelaide Live Site for the first three matches has been electric and even though the match will be very early, I know fans will be out in force.
“Get down to The Drive, get decked out in green and gold, and keep showing our support for the CommBank Socceroos, especially our South Aussies who are doing an amazing job representing our state on the world stage.”
General Manager of Adelaide Venue Management, Kate Owen added, “It’s been fantastic to see the South Australian community rally behind the Adelaide Live Site in support of the CommBank Socceroos’ World Cup campaign.
“Fans have turned out in droves, creating an electric atmosphere and bringing incredible Australian spirit to the venue, with its central, undercover location and great food and beverage offerings proving a real drawcard.”
With knockout football now underway and every match carrying huge stakes, the next early morning gathering promises to be one of the loudest yet. Whether you’re chasing another unforgettable World Cup moment or simply looking to soak up the atmosphere with fellow football fans, The Drive looks set to be the place to be before dawn this Saturday.
