Cassandre Prosper, a 6’3” Haitian-Canadian guard/forward from Montreal, was selected by the Washington Mystics with the 19th overall pick (second round) in the 2026 WNBA Draft on Monday, April 13.
Prosper capped her college career with a standout senior season at the University of Notre Dame, where she started all 36 games. She earned ACC Most Improved Player honors and was named to the All-ACC Second Team.
During her breakout year, the versatile wing averaged career-highs of 13.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. She shot an impressive 49.2% from the field and 73.8% from the free-throw line, recorded six double-doubles, and scored 20+ points six times. She also ranked among the top players in the ACC in field goal percentage and total points.
Over her four seasons with the Fighting Irish, Prosper averaged 8.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The Montreal native, who enrolled early at Notre Dame in December 2022, showed remarkable growth and developed into a two-way wing known for her size, athleticism, and strong defensive instincts.
She becomes the 24th Notre Dame player drafted into the WNBA and will reunite with former Fighting Irish teammate Sonia Citron on the Mystics roster.
A Basketball Family Legacy
Prosper comes from a rich basketball bloodline. Her older brother, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, was selected 24th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft and currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, where he averaged 10.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game during the 2025-26 season.
Their parents, Gaetan and Guylaine Prosper, were standout college players at Concordia University in Montreal and multiple-time RSEQ All-Stars.
Fashion Statement on Draft Night
On draft night, the 20-year-old Prosper — one of the youngest players selected — made a striking fashion statement in a custom silver satin suit designed by Haitian designer Jovana Louis (also known as Jovana Benoit). The tailored outfit featured structured shoulders, an elongated silhouette, and fluid lines that blended strong masculine cuts with a sleek, modern finish.
What’s Next
At just 20 years old, Prosper brings elite physical tools, versatility, and a competitive edge to a rebuilding Washington Mystics team. Her combination of size, scoring ability, and defensive presence makes her a promising addition as the Mystics look to develop young talent.
Haitian and Canadian basketball fans alike are celebrating Prosper’s milestone as she prepares to begin her professional career in the WNBA.
