The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government held a provincial assembly session at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar.
The session began at 3pm, marking what officials described as an unprecedented step in the history of the provincial assembly.
The decision followed an announcement by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who told a public rally in Mardan that the assembly sitting would be moved to an open venue.
After that, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati consulted Opposition Leader Dr. Ibad and other parliamentary leaders before finalizing the plan to hold the session at the stadium.
The Assembly Secretariat later issued an official notification for the sitting under Rule 30 Sub-Clause (I), which allows the speaker to convene an ongoing session at any venue considered appropriate.
Authorities said all arrangements for the session had been completed in advance. Special seating was set up for MPAs inside the stadium, while a sound system was installed for the proceedings. Members of the public were also allowed to watch the session from the stands.
Officials said the stadium had been handed over to police a day earlier for security and logistical arrangements.
The venue itself has recently undergone major renovation as part of efforts to prepare it for high-profile cricket events.
It had earlier been lined up to host a Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) match for the first time, but that plan was later dropped due to the fuel crisis, with all matches shifted to Lahore and Karachi instead.
