Whateley, who has been part of SEN’s cricket commentary team since 2018, will add Fox Cricket to his broadcasting commitments while continuing as host of Fox Footy’s AFL 360.
His move into the Fox Cricket commentary box comes as the network refreshes its line-up ahead of a busy summer of cricket.

Whateley joins a team featuring Adam Gilchrist, Isa Guha, Kerry O’Keeffe, Michael Hussey, Mel Jones, Mark Howard, Brendon Julian, Brett Lee, Ian Smith, Michael Vaughan, Mark Waugh, David Warner and Allan Border.
The announcement follows Alyssa Healy’s move into a permanent Fox Cricket commentary role, announced in July.
Fox Sports Managing Director Steve Crawley said Whateley would be a strong addition to the team.
“Gerard is one of the most respected voices in Australian sports broadcasting,” Crawley said.
“He has great experience in cricket and will be a strong addition to what is already the best line up of experts.”
Whateley said he was looking forward to joining the commentary team.
“It’s a tremendous honour to be given the opportunity to join a commentary team of phenomenal strength and depth alongside those I’ve long admired,” Whateley said.
“There’s never been a cricket odyssey like this for an Australian Test team. It will captivate us and keep us glued to Fox Cricket.”
Australia’s next assignment is a tour of South Africa, with the ODI series beginning on September 24 before the Test series.
The summer will then continue with a home white-ball series against England, a four-Test series against New Zealand and a tour of India, before the 150th Anniversary Test at the MCG in March. The WBBL and BBL seasons will again form part of Fox Cricket’s coverage.
