Karnataka is set to extend its expertise in eco-tourism and sustainable tourism to Jharkhand, with both States moving towards a formal agreement for knowledge-sharing and project guidance, Energy and Tourism Minister K.J. George said.
The announcement came on the occassion of meeting with Jharkhand Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar with the Karnataka Tourism Department officials.
Mr. George said: “In Karnataka, we are working to ensure that tourism growth goes hand in hand with environmental conservation, local employment, and sustainable economic development. It is great to see how other states are coming forward to study our experience and looking to adopt suitable elements of our model. Karnataka is ready to share its expertise and best practices to support eco-tourism development in Jharkhand.”
He added: “Under the proposed collaboration, our department will share its experience in project planning, selection of suitable eco-tourism models, implementation strategies, and sustainable tourism practices.”
While reviewing Karnataka’s approach to eco-tourism, destination development, and tourism models, Mr. Kumar said: “We would like to study Karnataka’s experience and best practices and identify models that can be adapted to Jharkhand’s ecological and tourism potential. We intend to formalise this cooperation with Karnataka shortly.”
