Cleveland Browns defensive end Jared Verse hurled pointed remarks at the Pittsburgh Steelers before Sunday’s rematch.
The Cleveland Browns kept their streak alive—the unwanted kind—against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The Browns fell to the Steelers, 27-6, suffering their 23rd straight loss at Acrisure Stadium in the regular season.
Deshaun Watson went 27-of-39 for 324 yards and zero touchdowns. He was sacked eight times.
A few days before the game, Jared Verse heightened the animosity between the two teams after calling the Steelers “dirty,” adding that he does not respect them. The Browns beat the Steelers, 27-24, at Huntington Bank Field in Week 4.
After the loss in Week 8, Verse said he does not regret what he said about Pittsburgh.
“I stand by everything I said, and as a man, you have the nature to do that. I think we could have definitely done more than just present ourselves as a team that we are,” said Verse in the video posted by Cleveland.com’s Dan Labbe.
“We didn’t do enough across the board from the first quarter to the last quarter.”

The 25-year-old defensive end, who is in his first year in Cleveland, did acknowledge that the Steelers played better.
“They did exactly what they needed to do. That’s completely on us—offense, defense, special teams, across the board. Nobody did enough,” said Verse.
He suited up after dealing with a knee issue. He had one tackle and had a heated altercation with Mason McCormick.
The Browns dropped to 5-3, while the Steelers improved to 6-2 to take the solo lead in the AFC North.
Cleveland will take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.
