Browns still the Browns with ugly Steelers loss that ties NFL record

The Browns returned to their losing habits as they made NFL history with another loss after falling to the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns are exceeding expectations this season. That doesn’t mean they are immune from poor performances, suffering a historic one in their 27-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.

Cleveland got off to a solid start, having one of the best records in the AFC. This placed them in the playoff picture of the conference standings, surprising many with their wins this season.

However, the Browns’ offense fell down to earth. They continue to suffer a historic losing streak when they enter Pittsburgh’s homefield during the regular season. That skid extended to 23 consecutive games as it ties a league record per NFL insider Adam Schefter.

“Browns now have lost 23 straight regular-season game at Pittsburgh, tying the NFL record for most consecutive road regular-season losses vs. a team that the Lions held, losing 23 straight games at Green Bay from 1992 through 2014,” Schefter wrote.

How Browns played against Steelers

Deshaun Watson and the Browns will need to regroup as the offense was nearly nonexistent in their loss to the Steelers.

Pittsburgh did most of its damage in the first half, taking a 20-6 lead at halftime. Cleveland only score with a pair of field goals in the second quarter, struggling to get any touchdown opportunities against Pittsburgh’s defense.

Watson had a solid performance throwing the ball, but he couldn’t obtain the touchdown passes in this game. He completed 27 out of 39 passes for 324 yards.

Quinshon Judkins couldn’t get much going on the ground, racking up 11 carries for 25 yards while catching two passes for 24 yards. Harold Fannin Jr. was a big bright spot, leading all receivers with 10 catches for 154 yards. Dylan Sampson came next with six receptions for 62 yards, while Denzel Boston caught six passes for 37 yards.

The Browns will look to bounce back in their next matchup, remaining on the road. They take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 9 as kickoff commences on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
