Dezi Freeman: YouTuber captures wild images inside the filthy hideout where cop killer made his last stand

A YouTuber has provided an inside look at the converted shipping container where double cop killer Dezi Freeman was hiding out, before making his last stand against police.

Freeman murdered Detective Leading Constable Neal Thompson and Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart, and seriously injured a third officer at a property in Porepunkah, in Victoria’s high country, on August 26, 2025.

He then fled into dense bushland.

After remaining on the run for more than 216 days, Freeman was finally cornered at a property at Thologolong on the Victoria-NSW border – about 150km from where he was last seen – on March 30.

Officers from Victoria Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) forced an armed Freeman outside the shipping container with a Bearcat “claw”.

He was then fatally shot.

The Thologolong property has been combed by police, with questions abounding how the self-proclaimed “sovereign citizen” was able to evade capture for so long and whether he had help from associates.

In a lengthy video uploaded to YouTube, a popular Australian content creator sheds light on Freeman’s living conditions at the rural abode.

The clip captures the property littered with rubbish, as well as bullet holes in a nearby boat and numerous coloured drums

“Every one of these bullet holes, is an exit bullet hole,” the YouTuber tells his viewers, noting only one bullet hole was exempt.

The entrance to the shipping container is also captured – revealing a pair of glasses still intact from police investigations.

“I can’t breathe in here,” he is heard saying as he moves outside.

“The chemicals are so strong.

“Like… you just don’t know what Dezi’s or what’s not Dezi’s.”

A nearby trailer is seen piled with beer bottles.

The video – which appears to have been uploaded last Thursday – is now the subject of a police probe.

In a statement, Victoria Police told NewsWire: “Police are investigating a report of a trespass at a property on Murray River Rd in Thologolong on April 16.”

“Investigators are aware of a video posted online in relation to the trespass and are investigating the circumstances,” a police spokeswoman said.

“The investigation remains ongoing.”

Freeman’s death marked the end of a seven-month saga that gripped the nation.

He was among four significant fugitives in Victoria’s history who have managed to evade police for extended periods of time.

Police initially believed he had died – shifting their search to a recovery mission after being unable to locate any trace of Freeman in the Mount Buffalo National Park region.

However, they were later tipped off about his real location – leading to the protracted siege.

Freeman refused to surrender despite hours of negotiations.

The Bearcat device was used to damage the container, allowing police to deploy flashbang grenades to flush him out of the structure.
