Delhi electoral rolls revision digitises 30.49 lakh forms, distribution nears completion

The digitisation of enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision of Delhi’s electoral rolls crossed the 30-lakh mark on Friday, with more than 4.46 lakh forms uploaded in a day as election officials shifted their focus from distribution to processing forms received from voters.

According to the official status report issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, 30,49,330 enumeration forms have been digitised so far, covering 21.01 per cent of Delhi’s 1,45,10,298 electors. This was up from 26,02,654 forms, or 17.93 per cent, on Thursday.

The door-to-door distribution exercise is nearing completion, with 1,44,60,313 enumeration forms distributed, taking coverage to 99.66 per cent of the electorate.

Four districts — Old Delhi, New Delhi, North East and South — have achieved 100 per cent distribution, while Central, South East and West have crossed 99.5 per cent coverage.

Many booth level officers said the work has now become more technology-intensive, with scanning documents, uploading forms and entering voter details taking significantly longer than distributing the forms.

Meanwhile, a booth level officer deployed at the BR Camp in Delhi’s Race Course area said the names of residents who shifted after demolition have not yet been deleted from the electoral rolls and advised them to submit Form 8 for change of address.

The Election Commission has extended the SIR schedule for Delhi, allowing booth level officers to continue house-to-house visits till August 8 instead of July 29. The additional time is expected to help in collecting and digitising completed forms.

Among districts, Outer North recorded the highest digitisation rate at 36.88 per cent, followed by South West at 30.26 per cent, Central North at 25.27 per cent and West at 25.26 per cent.

South East remained the lowest at 13.03 per cent, followed by Old Delhi at 13.56 per cent and East at 13.81 per cent. In absolute numbers, South West led with 4,02,425 digitised forms, followed by West with 3,67,856, North East with 3,41,088 and North West with 3,18,429.

Under the SIR exercise, booth level officers distribute two copies of the enumeration form to every elector. One copy is retained by the voter as acknowledgement, while the other is submitted to the officer after being filled. Voters can also submit their forms online.
