Bihar’s Munger district witnessed tension at a government school on Friday after a 14-year-old Class 8 student allegedly accused her computer teacher of raping her inside the school library, prompting her family to confront the accused and police to take him into custody for questioning.
The incident reportedly came to light after the girl’s family noticed changes in her behaviour over the past few days. During questioning at home, the student allegedly told her family about the incident, following which the relatives reached the school and confronted the computer teacher.
The confrontation reportedly turned heated, with information about a physical altercation also emerging. School authorities intervened as the situation escalated and attempted to bring the situation under control.
Police were subsequently informed through Dial 112. A police team reached the school and took the student and the accused teacher to the police station for questioning.
According to the family, the computer teacher, identified as Ashish Kumar, allegedly lured the girl to the school library around two months ago and sexually assaulted her.
The family said they became suspicious after noticing changes in the girl’s behaviour. They then questioned her, following which the alleged incident came to light.
The family has also claimed that the girl is pregnant. Police have not yet confirmed the claim.
Dharhara police station house officer Sonu Kumar said the accused teacher had been taken into custody and was being questioned.
“The family has said that they will submit an application tomorrow. After receiving the application from the family, the matter will be investigated and action will be taken according to law,” he said.
Police are examining the allegations and are expected to proceed further on the basis of the girl’s statement and the formal complaint from her family.
The case has triggered tension and discussion at the school and in the surrounding area as the police investigation continues.
