At around 5:30 a.m., the man was found dead near the intersection of Broadway and Norfolk Street in Cambridge.
Cambridge police are investigating after a man was fatally shot early Saturday morning, according to prosecutors.
Shortly before 5:30 a.m., Cambridge Emergency Communications received a call about a person lying on the ground near the intersection of Broadway and Norfolk Street, Cambridge police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said in a joint press release. When emergency responders arrived, paramedics found that the man had suffered a gunshot wound and declared him dead at the scene.
Investigators identified the man as Xavier Bautista, 32, of Cambridge, and determined that he was shot shortly before 4:30 a.m., prosecutors said. His body was located at around 5:30 a.m. by a pedestrian who called 911.
Cambridge police, Massachusetts State Police detectives, and the DA’s office are actively investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Cambridge police at 617-349-3300.
