Bryson DeChambeau makes honest admission after missing three straight major cuts

Bryson DeChambeau admitted that his golf has not been “good enough” after missing three straight major cuts.

The LIV Golf star made the honest comments on his YouTube channel, opening up about how he has not been playing at the level he expects of himself.

DeChambeau missed the cut at the US Open most recently, shooting five-over-par, two years on from winning the competition.

Speaking to the camera and addressing his audience, the American shared that he has been struggling with his golf.

He said: “We could say it’s unlucky, we could say bad judgment, we could say bad swings and all that, but ultimately it comes down to me making better decisions.

“Having a couple of things go more my way and me being more comfortable over the golf ball and not holding it off.

“And knowing why I had that miss, knowing why I’m missing it, and then working on speed with my putting, working on my wedges, getting a better combo so it’s not as erratic, even though I wasn’t hitting it my best off the tee, I was still No1 in driving off the tee, which is crazy.

“My iron play is just something I’ve got to work on. I’ve got to get it better.”

The 32-year-old was adamant that his YouTube career and LIV Golf were not impacting his game.

He continued: “Look, everybody’s going to have their opinion on it, but I can tell you I’ve been working harder on my game this past year after the Masters than I have in the past three, four years.

“The amount of effort I’ve put into understanding my golf swing and what makes the golf club come out more effectively, more efficiently, is mind-boggling.

“But I haven’t figured it out. I put one foot in front of the other and keep going.

DeChambeau added: “There’s not much more I can do than that. Just last year, this time, before the US Open, I was one of the best major championship performers in the world.

“Come one year later, everybody says I’m the worst. It just is what it is. Life, it’s golf.

“Things don’t always go your way. But guess what, keep going. Humbling.

“Sucks to talk about this, but you know what, I just had to get it out there.”

The 32-year-old is still “optimistic” about the future of LIV Golf despite Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) announcing it would cut its funding for the league at the conclusion of the 2026 season.

He previously said: “We didn’t really see that [PIF ending funding] coming, but that’s okay. One door closes, another opens – I think that’s the way a lot of us are looking at it.

“I think we all have optimism that there is a business plan that makes sense for team golf.

“I’m very optimistic with the business plan of team golf compared to other models, in my opinion.”
