A Queensland mother is demanding justice after her 27-year-old daughter was allegedly killed by her ex-partner, claiming the system failed her.
Djuarn Baker-Adams, a talented artist and proud Indigenous woman dedicated to helping youth, was allegedly murdered by her rapper ex-partner Ronald Cora.

“She’s gone forever now. (Allegedly) at the hands of somebody else that had no right to do that to her,” her mother Patrice Power said through tears.
“She was such a beautiful person. She had a lot and a lot of friends. Loved by so many, and she’s going to be missed.”
The heartbroken mother says she believes the system failed her daughter.
“I feel like the system has failed her,” she said. “She tried to get help, and it just wasn’t… It just didn’t work. It wasn’t enough.”

Djuarn is the fourth Queensland woman allegedly murdered by a partner or ex in just 45 days.
On Thursday, Minister Amanda Camm unveiled $3.3 million in funding to cut victim assessment times, with five of the state’s biggest domestic violence service providers standing behind her.
“A small part of the picture in improving our system’s response,” said Amie Carrinton, from the Domestic Violence Action Centre.
“Shorten our waiting lists so every time someone calls, we pick up,” said Holly Brennan, from Australian Women’s Health.
However, during a 45-minute press conference, Camm failed to answer how many recommendations of a Women’s Safety Justice Task Force have actually been implemented, including a register for convicted high-risk domestic violence perpetrators.
“We are calmly and methodically working through all of the recommendations,” she said.

Critics have reiterated calls to split Camm’s large portfolio, which includes not only preventing domestic violence, but also families, seniors, disability services and child safety.
“She needs to be concentrating on domestic and family violence, and how we can make change to prevent these deaths,” one critic said.
For Djuarn’s family, the fight for answers continues.
“It’s about justice for her now,” her mother said. “She’s not going to be forgotten. No way.”
