Cleveland Browns fans are bracing themselves for a potential Myles Garrett trade, as June 1 clears the way for a blockbuster if the organization so chooses. But the superstar edge rusher is just trying to enjoy life and prepare for the new season.
He posted a video on Instagram this past weekend that detailed some of his recent vacation to Japan with snowboarder girlfriend Chloe Kim. With his long-term future in Cleveland in a state of great uncertainty, Garrett did not seem to have much trouble relaxing.
Alongside the two-time Olympics gold medalist, the future Hall of Famer experienced plenty of excitement in the Land of the Rising Sun. Monkeys, sumo wrestling and sushi highlighted just some of the fun that was had during this Asian excursion.
Garrett set a new NFL record with 23.0 sacks last season, and Kim won a silver medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, so the happy couple certainly deserved some quality time together after all their hard work.
But the 2026-27 NFL campaign looms large. Opening kickoff is just over 100 days away, and trade speculation is ramping up. Garrett’s restructured contract gives the Browns more financial leeway to move him after June 1. AJ Brown essentially has a new home already, but Cleveland’s cornerstone could also be on the move before summer arrives.
The Browns have a new head coach, are still figuring out their quarterback situation and reside in the challenging AFC North, so a split might make sense for both parties. Fans have seen this saga play out before, however. Myles Garrett requested a trade in 2025 before signing a four-year, $160 million contract extension. He wants to compete for a playoff berth, though, and that may not be attainable in Cleveland.
Hopefully, following a seemingly enriching journey to Japan with Chloe Kim, Garrett has the clear mind to handle whatever changes and challenges await him in 2026.
