At just 8 years old, Anjali lost her eyesight. But she never lost her ability to create.
Her vision had been weakening since childhood. At first, she didn’t realise she was losing her sight. But when she began bumping into walls and objects, her family knew something was wrong.
There were treatments, an operation and hope that her vision might return. But eventually, the nerves in her eyes stopped functioning. Today, doctors say there is no treatment that can restore her vision.
But Anjali found another way to experience the world — through her hands.
As a child, she made diyas. Later, she began creating clay toys. Her visits to temples inspired her to make idols of Ganesha, Shiva and other deities.
She couldn’t see the idols she was creating. So she felt every curve, shape and detail with her fingers — turning touch into art. :seedling:
People once told her that being blind made her useless.
Anjali chose to prove them wrong.
“If a normal person can do anything, so can I,” she told herself.
Today, her hands create idols that people admire. With the support of her family and community, Anjali has transformed a challenge into a craft of her own.
Her story isn’t about what she lost.
It’s about everything she refused to let herself lose.
