Arsenal star offered to Man Utd and Chelsea in surprise transfer twist

Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly has reportedly been offered to Manchester United and Chelsea in a surprise development following Bruno Guimaraes’ arrival at the Emirates Stadium.

The 19-year-old could find himself squeezed further down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order after Arsenal completed a £75million deal to sign Guimaraes from Newcastle last week.

Lewis-Skelly committed his future to his boyhood club with a new contract last year after bursting onto the scene and establishing himself as one of English football’s brightest young talents.

However, opportunities proved harder to come by during Arsenal’s Premier League title-winning campaign, with the teenager making just 19 starts across all competitions.

There has now been fresh contact with Chelsea and United, as well as other Premier League clubs, over a potential move for the versatile England international.

Both clubs believed to be assessing the possibility of pursuing Lewis-Skelly, although it remains unclear whether formal offers will follow.

helsea have reportedly admired the Arsenal academy graduate for some time.

Lewis-Skelly’s uncertain situation comes after Arteta began using him more frequently in his preferred central midfield position towards the end of last season.

Having initially made his senior breakthrough at left-back, he was handed a new lease of life in midfield and did enough to earn a starting place in Arsenal’s Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

But the arrival of Guimaraes threatens to complicate matters.

The Brazilian has signed a four-year contract, with Arsenal holding an option for another season, and joins an already formidable midfield containing Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino.

Lewis-Skelly also faces significant competition for opportunities at left-back, potentially leaving the teenager with a difficult decision over his future.

Chelsea would hardly guarantee regular football either.ragraphs

The Blues possess several midfield options including Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Dario Essugo, Valentin Barco and Jordan Henderson, although Fernandez has been linked with a move away.

Chelsea had previously explored a deal for Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka, who worked under new manager Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, but were unable to prise the 33-year-old away.

It has already been an ambitious transfer window at Stamford Bridge.

Maxence Lacroix has arrived from Crystal Palace, while Chelsea made a huge statement by completing a £117m deal for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.

Lewis-Skelly, meanwhile, already has considerable experience despite his young age.

The Hale End graduate has accumulated 75 senior appearances for Arsenal and collected a Premier League winner’s medal last season.

He memorably enhanced his reputation during Arsenal’s Champions League quarter-final demolition of Real Madrid in 2025 before eventually moving back into central midfield.

Lewis-Skelly has started every Arsenal match during pre-season so far.

Yet with Rice and £75m arrival Guimaraes still to return to the starting XI, United and Chelsea could be poised to swoop.
