A Collective action to restore Ruparail River Basin

A Collective action to restore Ruparail River Basin

For years, families in these villages of the Ruparail river basin struggled for water watching wells run dry and crops wither.
Farming became a gamble. Livelihoods hung by a thread. But what didn’t run dry was hope. Communities, Local administration, NGOs, and CSR joined forces to do something powerful: they decided to make the water stay.

Today, check dams catch every drop of rain. Ponds once choked with silt have been revived to store water for the dry months. And thousands of trees now stand guard, their roots ensuring that the landscape holds more water. A simple cycle is taking shape: more water supports more trees, and more trees help retain more water. Communities now have more water for farming and everyday needs.

And when this happens, the river basin doesn’t just survive. It thrives. And so do the people who call it home.
