I drove you to the vet, you sat beside me.
In your closing eyes, love I could still see.
With every mile, I saw your strength fade.
It was the saddest journey, I had ever made.
I drove back from the vets, all on my own.
Tight in my hand, I took your collar home.
I look at your collar now, years have gone by.
And with that look, it’s still hard not to cry.
I pick your collar up, to a tiny ring of a bell.
