A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight received a bomb threat minutes before its scheduled takeoff from Lucknow, according to news agency ANI.
ANI reported that the threat was reported when the aircraft was preparing to depart for Delhi from Lucknow. Following the alert, security agencies initiated standard security protocols and began thorough checks of the aircraft.
Security inspections are currently underway.
The incident comes a day after a note found inside an IndiGo aircraft triggered a security scare at Kannur International Airport in Kerala. A note, which was later found to have been “misinterpreted” as a bomb threat by the cabin crew of a Mumbai-Kannur IndiGo flight, prompted an emergency alert and a full-scale security response on Wednesday.
The note was discovered in a waste bin inside one of the aircraft’s lavatories after the flight landed at the airport around 3.20 pm. Following the discovery, the cabin crew informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and other authorities, police said.
An emergency alert was issued at the airport, and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay after landing for security checks. Bomb squad and dog squad teams conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft, but found nothing suspicious.
Police later said the note did not contain a bomb threat and had been “misinterpreted” by the cabin crew.
