What is season three of House of the Dragon about?
Season three is set to go deeper into the civil war tearing the Targaryen dynasty apart, the Dance of the Dragons. With tensions between Queen Alicent’s Greens and Rhaenyra Targaryen’s Blacks erupting into open conflict, the season trades political manoeuvring for scorched-earth retaliation. Yet one of the most anticipated moments from George R. R. Martin’s Fire and Blood book, the Battle of the Gullet—was notably absent from the season finale. Show runner Ryan Condal addressed its omission, promising the clash is imminent. As that battle is one of the most anticipated events of Fire and Blood. It will be set as the largest-scale sequence the series has attempted thus far, the battle will unfold early in season three. The final scenes in season two of Otto Hightower in prison does not necessarily mean the end of his appearance in the show, and we can promised he will be back in the next season.
Who is cast in House of the Dragon season three?
While familiar faces return of Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, and Ewan Mitchell, season 3 welcomes new players to the chessboard. James Norton joins as Ormund Hightower, aligning with the Greens; Tommy Flanagan as the steel-nerved Roderick Dustin; and Dan Fogler steps in as Ser Torrhen Manderly, a Northman.
When does House of the Dragon season three premiere?
A June 2026 release is on the cards. We’ll update you when the exact date is released.
