Voyager star DANNY ESTRIN shifts gears for new SBS2 series

Voyager frontman Danny Estrin is swapping music for motoring in a new SBS2 series celebrating Australians and the cars they cherish most.

Precious Metal: A Love Story explores the deeply personal connections people have with their treasured vehicles, revealing the stories behind lifelong passions and prized possessions.

Away from his music career, Estrin is a passionate enthusiast of classic and quirky cars, making him a natural guide as he meets Australians whose vehicles have become far more than just a mode of transport.

Best known as the lead vocalist and keytarist of Voyager, he represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023 before becoming a familiar face on television through appearances including Have You Been Paying Attention?.

Earlier this year, he also joined SBS’s Eurovision coverage as part of the broadcaster’s commentary team.

Rather than focusing on beauty, speed and aspiration, Precious Metal: A Love Story shines a light on the individuality and stories behind some of Australia’s most treasured vehicles, and the people who love them.

Precious Metal: A Love Story was first unveiled as part of SBS’s refreshed SBS2 slate announced in June, ahead of the channel’s relaunch this August.

Precious Metal: A Love Story premieres on SBS2 and SBS On Demand this September.
