One person was killed and around 20 others were injured after a private bus overturned near Kuttippuram in Kerala’s Malappuram district on the Thrissur-Kozhikode route.
The accident occurred after the bus reportedly lost control, collided with an autorickshaw and overturned onto a car parked nearby, which was already involved in an earlier accident. Three injured passengers are said to be in critical condition.
CCTV footage from the accident site showed the bus skidding for over 25 metres before crashing into a divider on the service road and overturning.
Police, Fire and Rescue Services personnel, along with local residents, carried out rescue operations and freed passengers trapped inside the bus by cutting open parts of the vehicle.
The injured were shifted to hospitals in Kuttippuram, Valanchery and Kottakkal for treatment. Further details are awaited.
