The Cleveland Browns have gotten training camp underway recently as they start coming together under new head coach Todd Monken. The Browns are expected to be among the worst teams in the NFL once again this year, but that isn’t stopping the squad from looking to add new pieces to help bolster their defense.
On Wednesday, the team got an intriguing update about a familiar face who could be back in the mix this season.
“Possible reunion: DE Jadeveon Clowney is visiting the #Browns today, source says. Following an 8.5-sack season with the #Cowboys, Clowney is exploring another stint in Cleveland, where he had 11 sacks in two seasons from 2021-22,” reported Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network on X, formerly Twitter.
While he might not be quite the same player he was with the Browns five years ago, Clowney is still a productive pass rusher at the NFL level who brings more than just his name recognition to the table. Cleveland’s offseason was headlined by the trade of Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, losing their best player in the process, although they did bring back a much younger star in Jared Verse as a consolation prize.
Adding Clowney to the mix would make the Browns’ pass rush even more respectable despite losing one of the greatest defensive players of all time.
Meanwhile, Cleveland still needs to sort out its quarterback situation for this year, as Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders both are competing for the starting job for 2026, with Monken yet to make a decision on that front.
The Browns are set to kick off their new season on September 13 with a road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
