UP govt college denies admission to girls over lack of separate toilets

In Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district, the Jhinku Lal Triveni Ram Chaudhary Inter College is denying admission to girls. The government inter college cited a lack of separate toilets, a boundary wall, and a common room as the reasons for the refusal. The situation gained attention when a father gifted a toilet seat to the school authorities to secure his daughter’s admission. Villagers allege that this undeclared ban on female students is a move to help a private inter college operating in the same area. The school principal cited safety concerns and a lack of basic facilities, pointing to a resolution passed by the management committee regarding the inadequate infrastructure. Following the incident, district authorities issued a notice to the institution. A crackdown is currently underway, and it is expected that the institute will allocate space for a girls’ toilet. The report was featured on the Get Real India broadcast.
