UAE medal haul reaches 61 at GCC Games

The UAE’s medal tally at the 4th GCC Games in Doha has risen to 61 after more success in archery and padel.

The national team now has 13 gold, 19 silver and 29 bronze medals at the Games.

Archery provided nine of the latest medals, with the UAE team taking three gold, five silver and one bronze.

Shehab Ahmed Al Saedi opened the UAE’s archery account with bronze in the men’s individual compound event.

The first archery gold came from the women’s compound team of Joumana Al Najjar, Amna Al Awadhi and Maitha Al Nuaimi.

Al Awadhi then added another gold in the women’s individual compound event, while Omar Al Ali won the men’s individual recurve title.

There were also several team medals.

Yousef Al Hosani, Sultan Al Menhali and Shehab Ahmed Al Saedi took silver in the men’s compound team event.

Saeed Al Dhuhoori, Omar Al Ali and Abdalla Al Ketbi claimed silver in the men’s recurve team event.

Hessa Al Awadhi, Fatima Al Blooshi and Maryam Al Sayegh added silver in the women’s recurve team event.

Joumana Al Najjar and Shehab Ahmed Al Saedi won silver in the compound mixed team event. Al Najjar also finished second in the women’s individual compound event.

The bronze came from Omar Al Ali and Hessa Al Awadhi in the recurve mixed team event.

Padel also added to the UAE total. The men’s team won gold, while the women’s team claimed bronze in the team competition.

The results add another strong day for the UAE delegation in Doha, with medals now coming across both established and fast-growing sports.
