A Rhode Island truck driver died Monday evening, nearly one week after being involved in a crash in I-95 in North Attleborough, the local DA said.

Julio Flores, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, died Monday evening, nearly one week after the semi-truck he was driving was involved in a crash along I-95 in North Attleboro, the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said.

At around 11:58 p.m. on May 5, police were sent to mile marker eight on I-95 South for a reported crash, the Quinn’s office said.

Police found a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, with four occupants, pinned between the highway guardrail and Flores’ 2005 Freightliner M2 truck, the local DA said.

Police discovered Flores “a short distance from the crash scene” after he “exited” the vehicle, Quinn’s office said. He was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials have not release information about the status of the four Jetta occupants.

State Police are actively investigating the incident, the DA said.
