The Cleveland Browns are currently gearing up for the 2026 NFL season, looking to break their ugly streak of losing campaigns. This offseason, the Browns made headlines by hiring Todd Monken to replace Kevin Stefanski as the team’s head coach.
Recently, Monken made a surprising confession about the best player on the team and arguably the best player in the NFL: star pass rusher Micah Parsons.
During a media availability, Monken was asked if he’s met with Garrett yet, and answered simply, “No,” per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.
The confession won’t do anything to quiet down the trade chatter that’s been surrounding Garrett and the Browns for the last couple of years.
Many expected that Garrett would look to move on to a better situation when he was a free agent last year, but he instead opted to follow the money and re-sign with Cleveland for a hefty price tag.
Still, other teams interested in adding one of the most game-wrecking defensive players of his generation could theoretically start assembling their best offers if they believe Garrett truly is available on the trade market. Garrett is coming off a dominant 2025 season in which he set the NFL sack record, despite the overall ineptitude of the Browns as a team.
Meanwhile, Monken has met with both Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, each of whom is vying for the team’s starting quarterback position next year. While the ownership would prefer to see Watson get the nod, considering the huge amount of money the team has tied to him, it remains to be seen what direction Monken will choose to go.
The Browns’ 2026 season is slated to get underway in September.
