United States Captain Jim Furyk has shared he wants Tiger Woods to be involved at the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
Fyruk will be taking on the job for the second time following America’s devastating defeat at Le Golf National in Paris in 2018.
He has since served as vice-captain alongside Woods at previous editions of the competition.
Woods is understood to be receiving treatment in Switzerland after being charged with driving under the influence following a car crash near his home in Florida back in March.
Police found two prescription opioid hydrocodone pills in his pockets when he was arrested, which Woods has been using to manage pain after several significant operations.
Furyk said he has not wanted to bother Woods since being announced as captain but shared he is keen for the golfer to be involved.
He explained: “We haven’t spoken yet. I think, out of kind of courtesy for him and his family, and I know maybe a road to health, I haven’t reached out, but I will.
“Definitely. We’ll see where that role may fall. In the past, I think he’s kind of taken a back seat and kind of maybe served as an advice for Keegan (Bradley) and such.

“I will say I enjoyed serving – I use that word serving – as a vice-captain with him a number of times.
“I think he brought a lot to the team room and a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience.”
A golf insider previously told People’s magazine Woods is “desperate” to resume his career once treatment concludes.
“He knows he needs to beat his issues and also deal with the pain from not only playing golf but also from his regular fitness schedule,” the source explained.

Sources close to Woods told the Daily Mail his rehabilitation is progressing well.
“He’s got a pain management doctor who is helping him deal with his body pain without addictive opioids,” the insider revealed.
“He’s responding well to treatment, and Vanessa is very happy with what she’s hearing.”
The programme spans 90 days, although Woods retains the option to leave at any point.

Woods’ girlfriend Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr, has stood firmly by him throughout the ordeal.
The couple, who have been together for approximately 18 months, reportedly share a deep connection that has remained intact despite the challenging circumstances.
“Tiger needed to do intensive therapy, and his girlfriend Vanessa has been in favour of it,” another insider said.
“She still supports this and supports him. She loves him and knows that private treatment was necessary.”
