The barrage became an important structure for managing and monitoring the Gandak’s enormous flows. On 31 July 2003, the barrage recorded a downstream discharge of 6,39,750 cusecs. During the 2024 flood season, the maximum recorded discharge was 5,62,500 cusecs.
